Reggae in the Park with The Dubplates

Allan Park Events will host a fun-filled evening featuring the Dubplates. Bring your own picnic or purchase food from local Food Trucks and enjoy an evening of music with Charleston’s own “high energy” reggae band – the Dubplates. You will love this top-notch performance and be assured you will be singing, dancing and joining in the fun before the evening is over! May 28 at 6:30pm. Admission: FREE. “We started out as a DJ/Vocal group called Dub Island Soundsystem in 2002. As Dub Island we performed all over the country. We performed at SXSW festival in Austin TX, we performed for Interscope records and opened for such acts as : Damain Marley, Digital Underground, The Wailers, String Cheeze, DJ Logic and many more.”
“In 2010 we decided to form a Roots Radics style riddium band called The Dubplates. Since becoming the Dubplates we have gotten to do shows for Sir Richard Branson on Necker Island in BVI. The Dubplates have been the backing band for Tanya Stephens and Zumjay. We have also performed with: Steel Pulse, Third World, Yellowman, Big Boi, Too Short, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Nevel and many other major artists.”
