Formerly known as Hester Park, Corrine Jones Park is a neighborhood park in the heart of the Wagener Terrace neighborhood. This park underwent a complete makeover in 2011 and early 2012. The Charleston Parks Consevancy worked closely with the Corrine Jones neighborhood and supporters to raise more than $20,000 toward the park renovation. In October 2011, some 40 people helped install new playground equipment in the park. A few weeks later, architecture students from Clemson University designed and built a shade structure for seating.
Then, in April 2012, the Conservancy added a colorful touch with the first-phase planting. Several volunteers and Conservancy staff gathered to plant about 500 flowers and shrubs in the park. A second-phase shade planting was added in September 2012.
